Welcome to the Iron & Ivy Golf Lounge gear blog! If you have ever hit the bays at our West Bloomfield Township location, you know how obsessed we are with dialing in the perfect equipment. Today, we are putting the highly-anticipated Srixon ZXiR irons to the test to see if they have what it takes to kick my current gamers out of the bag.
Setting the Baseline: Callaway Rogue ST Pro
Before we look at the Srixons, we need a baseline. For a while now, my go-to setup has been the Callaway Rogue ST Pro irons. They offer a great blend of player-preferred shaping with some solid distance technology.
To keep this test as accurate as possible, I fired up our in-house Trackman iO—which runs absolutely flawlessly on our custom AMD PC rig—and hit some baseline shots using a standard Vice golf ball.
Here is a look at my current average total yardages with the Callaways:

Enter the Challenger: Srixon ZXiR
Srixon has been making serious waves with the ZXiR line. These are Srixon's newest premium entry into the game-improvement category. They feature an i-ALLOY face and MainFrame milled pattern design meant to increase MOI and ball speeds.
Looking at them in the bag, they have a surprisingly clean and modern profile at address for a game-improvement iron. But looks aren't everything. The real question is how they perform, and frankly, the Trackman numbers were completely wild.
Here is what happened when I took full swings with the Srixon ZXiR set:

The Verdict
The ball speed and distance gains with the ZXiR irons are absolutely staggering. The 5-iron flew almost 56 yards further than my Callaway! While the 56° wedge remained almost identical in distance, every other club in the bag saw a massive jump, likely due to Srixon lowering the sweet spot to optimize flex for typical game-improvement strikes.
If I put these in the bag permanently, I will completely have to relearn my gapping, but the raw power is undeniable.
